Yes sir :)

This weekend in potters class we started off with a debate everyday about various topics dealing with the treatment and discrimination of gays. the debates ranged from treatment of gays in the military, in families in the army and at church. My group was about the church, and how people wernt allowed into the church because of their sexual preference. in my mind i think that this is completely wrong! a church should never be able to deny someone the able to listen to their teachings. next we started a new unit about mistery and theirs no one who can read a mystery than potter himself and then we watched a movie friday or atleast the beginning of the movie, and it was good, that movie movie was when a stranger calls. jeeze machine

what a week??? very interesting, very interesting indeed! this week in potters class we watched videos and read stories about two terrible events in history both events in which people lost their basic human rights all because of their ethic background or religion. The jewish people who were envolved in the holocaust without a doubt have experienced such things that no one should ever have to. These innocent people were killed and tortured and worked to death, truly an awful state. the movie we watched about it showed how a father did all he could to protect the live of his son, in the end the man dies but the son lives on and tells his story of his father who saved his life. The japanese who were also persecuted were not treated as harshly but i can not say that they were "free". in the land of the free which was where all these people were stationed, they were forcd to leave their homes and sell most of their belongings and then were forced to live in litle vilages without proper care for them. All of this happened because of the bombing of pearl harbor. its quite awful to think about these horrible events but forgetting about them would be disgraceful!

because he said so

The story Nightjohn is a brutal one. This story covers the intense conditions that slaves experienced throughout every day, whether it be the smoldering heat, the tightly packed rooms in which they lived or their treatment like animals. All are terrible. This story tells about real accounts of slaves trying to escape and what would happen if they were caught. Some incidents include being torn apart by dogs and just left to die. However this story singles in on one slave in general, his name in the story is John. John is not your average slave, first let me mention that not only has he escaped, but he has also come back to work. That is unheard of! But continuing on this story show the importance of the abilities to read and write, for John gives that his only reason in returning was to teach slaves these abilities. These skills prove to be very useful, and even though John risks his life to do so he does it.
The story mascot is a very different story, then the other ones that I have heard of during this time period. Most stories I hear are about the rude accounts and just over all crude behaviors towards Africans during this time period. Although this story deals with this, it is unique. This story is about Malcolm X. This story is about a young boy who grows up with mostly no trouble doing with racial issues. Although he was sent to a juvenile place to live, the people that lived there were white, and they absolutely loved Malcolm. While his time at this house he did amazing at school, and had a job at a diner, he had a pretty good life for an African people would say. However this all changed, when Malcolm was asked by his teacher what he wanted to be when he grew up. He responded that he wanted to be a lawyer. The teacher’s response was laughter, and told him to go for something that was more realistic for someone with his skin color. At this moment Malcolm realized the inequality, and then started taking more offense to the “N” word. And because of this he eventually ended up moving to Massachusetts with his Mom. This story, even though it doesn’t show the crude behaviors towards Africans, still shows that they were not viewed the same.
All of these stories have at least one thing in common; this of course is the terrible treatment of Africans and the inequality. Much like Nightjohn, in the movie The Great Debaters, you hear about lynchings and the harsh treatments that took place. In The Great Debaters the three students and their teacher Mr. Tulson witness a lynch mob and all the horrors associated with it when they realized their lives were at stake. In The story Mascot, much like in The Great Debaters, it shows the how Africans are truly uncomfortable with hearing and being called the “N” word. All three of these examples show you that Africans were always looked down upon, and are never thought of as equal. These stories truly show the horrible treatment of Africans, which gladly has gotten better over the ages.

great looks from a cool cat

its that time of the week again ladies and gentlemen. the time where a mr. luke mokma stands up and does his thing. a time where we all listen, and a time where we wish desales wasnt real. the thing im talking about ofcourse is racism. racism is a terrible thing, and we have learned about it this week byreading a few short stories. these short stories were rather graphic but they are intended for you to understand what really happened during the days of segregation and inequality. a truely awful experience for many. speaking of truely awful experience, that is what everyone goes through when you attend the high school of st. francis desales. lols lols lols. but carrying on with what i said earlier, we also watched the movie the great debaters featuring THE DENZEL WASHINGTON. this movie also deals with the topic of racism, by giving the viewers a glimpse of discrimination.......cant wait to see how this movie ends <3 and also a big tom brown is my hero :)

I remember my first....

Lolilol lols lols lols, this week in the potters class we had a test.....not just any ordinary test, a test that possed as a challenge, a test that made all the difference in the world, a test that defined us as a human being! lolilol, but seriously it was a unique test. the test was about a play that we read called 12 angry men......this play was spot on if i dont say so myself :). lols, we also watched the play.....prettty fantastic if i dont say so myself. but anyways mr. potter what can  say, hes a man on a mission, hes a man with the brains of einstein, the man with the power to pull three trains on his back. On friday me and the potter had another thumb wrestling match....lets just say the man is an animal! he took me out in two swift moves, making me all time 0-2 against this wildebeast. Lolilol desales in the news again, just kidding there football team lost last week ending there season! lastly i would like to leave you knowig that Mr. Tom brown is still my hero and stole my heart <3. lols lols lols <3

lolilol lols lolilol

lolilol? la la le lol? those are the words that came out of my mouth when i heard that desales lost in the first round of the playoffs! hahahaha! 14-7 loss to watterson, due to giving up a touchdown with 16 second left!!! lol bout time....
but this week in the potters class we are reading the play with alot of numbers on the front. it is a very interesting book/ play. with alot to think about. there are many key components to think about when you read this, first of it starts with giving you all the information that the boy should be guilty, but then as th book progresses, the eighth juror begins to take all the evidence and turn it around to persuade alot of the other jurors that he isnt guilty, this book is a zig zag of fun mixed in with a little potter every now and again clearing up the confusion. I myself still think the boy is guilty, but i believe some of the evidence of which the people have testified is false. I feel as tho the boy will end up being found not guilty, cant wait to find out :) lols lols lols lols BEAT DESALES! haha its funny cause they lost in the first round of the playoffs!!!!!!!!!! lol BOOM ROASTED oh and for those of you who dont know Big Tom Brown is my hero! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

shvat a day

what can i say? what a day? what a life? what a way? what must go? what must come? what will all of us learn from? a loss is what we learn from which is exactley what the jv team did this week. for many of you that didnt know, the jv team lost there game at reynoldsburgh...a bunch of no named players. it was all thanks to a series of unfortunate events. however the lions who were 8-1 at the moment really stepped it up by blasting the cruisers of groveport. this team looked good, but didnt play like they looked. they gave up scores non-stop resulting with an embarrasing 45-6 loss.....lols lols lols, groveport also had the help of two seniors who did absolutely nothing for there team which explains why they are playing jv....LOL . but anywho in potters class this week we worked on our trials......as i have stated many times before my trial was that of the andrea yates trial..... a truely terrible thing she did.... :( and also my michigan wolverines lost there third straight.... so dissapointing but whatevs we can beat desales! lolilol lolilol lols lols lols lols :) BOOM ROASTED!

But today which is friday me and the potter had a thumb wrestling match.....ofcourse he won, but he did cheat. and as he said afterwards, this probably the first student teacher thumb wrestling match of the year.....he may be right but i just wanted to do cart wheel....lols lols. <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 BEAT DESALES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lolilol la la lol le la lols

Sorry for the day late blog.... but this week in the potters class we finished our book, and let me say it was a good one. we also watched the movie that went along with it and there were some minor differences. so now we are starting a research paper on trialss, should be interesting.

Today there was football game in which the lions of gahanna faced off against pick north. The game was a 23-0 shutout. and i almost got kicked out of the games for angering the other teams fans. Just for you Tom Brown <3. the game was all gahanna, and it was spectacular, and also a very notciable touchdown pass from the Alec Shoelace Touhy to Parker willy wonka cavendish. it was cute :)

Purple is still my favorite color....

Mr. Mokma here with a few gracious words. What has the world come to, to even think about making a desales high school? its complete nonsense, is what it is.

This week in English, we are continuing our reading on the book to kill a mocking bird....much like desales continues to reak my heart....Furthermore we are also finishing it this weekend, something that i wish wouldnt happen, but everything has to end like desales......The book today was rather interesting with our first view of Boo Radley, the ingenious man.

Though the book doesnt come out directly and say it, we talked about it in class that what actually happened was that Boo radley finished off the disgrace of bob ewell, just like the lions are planning on doing to the tigers of Pick North. The JV game is in the morning and we will be tearin it up, and will come out with a win tomorrrow. The jv pick north team is undefeated much like the jv gahanna team, making this a much watch event!

Also in the Potters class we are continuing to saty up to date with the quizzes everyother day....

Spring Love

You can’t see it,
but it’s there just the same.
Some think its a competition,
some just a game.
It’s wet all day,
and cold all night.
It’s mistakeable,
but watch it take flig
Sometimes it passes,
sometimes it stays.
It goes on forever
in its irreversible ways

So thats what its like to be a girl?

Luke Mokma again here with another few words of criticism. Desales will not being recieving any hate this week. JUST KIDDING. Again listening to the tv on a brutal friday night i heard that the to cute to purple stallions recieved a Loss to a Michigan team. This is just showing that the purple ponies think they are good enough to play anyone.

This week in Potters class, what can i say enjoyable as always! We  are continuing our reading on the book to kill a mocking bird. Quite fantastic if i dont say so myself, the book is starting to catch my attention with the start of the trial, like a jv football game does against Lancaster. This week the mighty lions faced the strong willed gales and i still dont know that is, but all i know is that when the game was over we recieved a W and they didnt. The Gales walked off the field just played a good game, but with their heads down....A MISTAKE! and they also walked out giving me and friends the evil eye for we had been making fun of them the whole game :).

Continuing further on our quest through English we find that upon finshing our reading for the day that we are presnted with a quiz? These quizzes are worth only 15 points but studying everyday makes me nautious like losing to desales. :(

BOYS

They make you laugh,
They make you cry,
They make you smile,
They make you fly,
They make you feel special,
They make you want to die,
They make you fall,
Till one day the just say goodbye.

By Maddy.

From this reading we can tell maddy has had some bad moments with boys.....and i am truely sorry to hear :(

HEY UHHHHHH I DIDNT KNOW YOU COULD READ?

Hey its me again mr. hate desales <3. This week in Mr. Poters class were like uh starting to read this book  to kill a mocking bird. At first when i read this book i hated it as much as i hated desales........but ya know it has really grown on me like a win over the purple stallions. Although it seems like the book has just begun it seems like a no brainer to me, that this element of literature is like an overtime win against the Desales.

You may hbe reading this and thinking to your self why so much anti-desales? the answer to your very immature question is that they broke my herat last year.......Although i played freshmen football and we WON :) they got reall cocky, and by they i mean varsity and jv, they won :(, and they think their greatest and there really not!

But anyways we turned our persuasive essays in this week, and mine was over the body paint controversy. You may think it isnt that big a deal but it really it, considering it is something the student section does every year no matter what sport it is. And with that being said i dont want to lose my privaledge of being able to paint my body.

FUNNY BUT NOT

it's funny how hello is always accompanied with goodbye
it's funny how good memories can start to make you cry
it's funny how forever never seems to last
it's funny how much you'd lose if you forgot about your past
it's funny how “friends” can just leave when you are down
it's funny how when you need someone they never are around
it's funny how people change and think they're so much better
it's funny how many lies are packed into one “love letter”
it's funny how one night can contain so much regret
it's funny how you can forgive but not forget
it's funny how ironic life turns out to be
but the funniest part of all, is none of thats funny to me

arianna loshnowsky

this poetry is rather touching because the author says that all these things are funny, when we actually no that they really arnt :(

Desales who?

I don't know about you guys, but i am a man who wouldn't mind killing a stallion right now. No offense to you horse lovers out there, but the purple stallions are the only ones i seem to have a problem. Oh yeah! Theres a high school called St. Francis Desales, there not good at any sports, and are just "jelly" for the most part. <3

Excuse me, i'm getting carried away, but Desales was something i brought up in class i believe wednesday, and i believe they are a very interesting topic. Although we never talked about them in a way that was beneficial, we did talk about being allowed to talk about them. Along with that, we talked about poetry which is basically just nonsense, except sometimes it touches my heart. for example:

You Are Like The Diamond

You are like the diamond
You glimmer and glow
And shine so brightly
Some, like me, draw close
To feel your warmth, your heat
Only to find none

You are like the diamond
You are bright and strong
But you have no warmth, or love
It's a terrible game
To play with people's hearts
Like mine

You are like the diamond
You will last longer than most
But you will have no love
No warmth to back up that bright light
So what kind of life will it be?
Besides long?

Will you regret it someday?
Regret being so much like the diamond
Regret being so cold
And look for me
A find me gone?
Can I ever leave?

No, I can never leave you
I am drawn to this cold light
This false sense of warmth you give
I keep wishing and hoping
That someday, you will give warmth
But, this will never be

Diamonds last forever

This poem is very moving, and i love how much of her poem deals with the warmth she feels or receives when she is truly in love. This is one poem I like, which is quite surprising because i am a man that just doesn't enjoy reading at all! So in a way i think a Mr. Potter may be changing me or may be just brain washing me into start enjoying poetry.

Furthermore than BEAT DESALES, i mean way further! We talked about the making of a beautiful essay <3.
I myself do not really believe in writing because i think it is for people who are soft....LIKE DESALES. But anyways....lols......I do not like to read to, and basically just hate everything about english class in general, but Mr. Potter preforms miracles! Beyond what i can see and make me hungry for the knowledge he prepares for in the oven. So sir i do graciously except your kind words. BEAD DESALES.
KILL THE STALLIONS. <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

yours truley,
